Thrills and excitement at Courthouse St. tonight as the U14 Boys overcame Greenway Utd 8-7 in a cracker. A Dominick Sweeney peno gave his side a 1-1 draw at the break and no one was ready for the avalance of goals in the second period. Fin Lacey and Aaron O’Boyle put the home side 3-1 but Greenway stormed back to go 4-3 up themselves. Aaron O Boyle then completed his hatrick to put his side into a 5-4 lead but back came the visitors again to go 6-5 ahead.Aaron grabbed another to level late on but Greenway looked to have snatched it when they nosed ahead 7-6 with 3 minutes remaining but Aaron leveled it again and in the last attack of the match Killala were awarded another Peno and Dom Sweeney finished as he started to make the final score 8-7. Heartbreak for the brave Greenway team but a great never say die attidude from the young Killala lads.

Killala U16 Boys tasted defeat for the first time losing 3-1 away to Urlar Utd.The home side took an early lead but twenty minutes later N Browne equalised from a corner with a great header leaving the sides all square at the break. Both sides attacked looking for the lead goal which fell to the home side with two in the space of five minutes.Killala never gave up and had chances to take something from the game but finding the net was not to be.

Killala 2 Ballinrobe Town 1
Killala FC girls opened their first home game of the season strong and successfully, with a cracker of a goal from Alison Munnelly within the first 8 minutes resulting in a 2-1 win over Ballinrobe. Holding a majority of the possession throughout the first half, center midfielder Aoileen Collins smashed the top corner of the goal with a superb free kick from outside the box, sealing the second goal for Killala before half time. With another strong start to the second half, fantastic balls played through by Captain Grainne McHale, Jacinta Munnelly, Caoimhe Reilly and goal scorer Collins gave striker Alison Munnelly many opportunities to have a crack at the impressive Ballinrobe Goalkeeper, but none of which hit the back of the net. With left back Karen Lawlor making great runs down the wing, the Killala girls created great havoc for the Ballinrobe defenders. With five minutes left until full time, Ballinrobe managed to sneak a goal past Killala’s keeper Emma Munnelly, who had already made some very impressive saves throughout the 80mins. New recruits Ailbhe Reilly, Shannon Cummins, Ailbhe Murray and Poppy Bradley are showing great potential and are breaking nicely into the squad. Let’s hope the girls keep up this unbeaten season when they play away to Castlebar Town next Tuesday.
Team: Emma Munnelly, Karen Lawlor, Megan Bilbow, Grainne McHale, Sarah Boyde, Caoimhe Reily, Chloe Greham, Aoileen Collins, Jacinta Munnelly, Ailson Munnelly and Ailbhe reilly. Subs: Rachel Munnelly, Shannon Cummins, Ailbhe Murray and Poppy Bradley.
